Amberle

Hi, I'm Amberle, I'm 19 years old and living on my own. (Ticked my 'rents off, they barely talk to me anymore.) I attended college my freshman year, and then decided that the all-girls school didn't offer me what I wanted. So, now I work at a bookstore (trying to get a job at the local university library), live with my boyfriend, and volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore on my days off. I go by Saphira in the community. Ummmm...I'm extremely musical, and I will probably start knocking out my Gen Eds next semester at the local community college (it's easier/quicker to get that Marine Bio degree with the basics out of the way).

And yeah. I'm incredibly boring. :P

Jenny

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am 30 yrs. old. I have 2 children ages 4 and 2 1/2. I have 2 cats and 1 dog. I currently live in Washington D.C. and I am a Navy Wife. We move about every 3 years or so.

I work at a Hospital. I am slowly going to college working towards the goal of Nurse Anesthetist.

I love Myst. I fell in love with Riven first through my Mom. I then proceeded to buy all the games except Real Myst and play them.

Karen

My name is Karen, and I'm a Mystaholic. Oh, that's the other group...

I'm Karen Jacobson (known as T'resah in the Myst community). My husband (the Notorious Jake) and I live in a 'burb of Seattle, Washington, USA, with our son Sean. He's 20. Our daughter, Erin, is serving in the US Army in Fairbanks, Alaska. She will be 22 very soon. They are two of the coolest kids in the known universe.

I work for the county hospital/trauma center in Seattle, Harborview Medical Center. I was a Public Safety Officer for years, then a Sergeant (watch commander) for a year, then kicked upstairs as the Support Seargeant--Training/Compliance Coordinator for Public Safety. Jake is still an officer, and wants to keep it that way. I envy him.

I like all things Myst, especially Mysterium. I collect all kinds of paraphenalia for Mystdom, but I also collect Science Fiction books (especially autographs and first printing hardcovers), cloisonne pins and statues of the Space Needle. Don't ask. I'm not sure myself.

Kate

I'm Kate, better known to the Myst community as Ti'ana Katarina (or, if you're Kha'tie, TiKi...;P) and I'm only seventeen. *squeak* I'm a senior in high school and I work a part-time job (about twelve hrs. a week) as a page in our local library. Right now I'm involved in that oh-so-wonderful (gag me, please) process of filling out college applications and doing ritual dances to the admission gods, hoping I'll get into my first choice.

Oh yeah, and when I have a chance to actually breathe I write fanfic and pretend I'm being productive. No, really. :P

Kathleen

Shorah! My name is Kathleen, aka Kae, I go by Keerah in the M/R/D world. I am a homeschooling Mom of 3. I stay on fast forward most of the time.

My family consists of 1 husband (Stacey) - 3 kids, Josh (12) Sarah (11) and Joey (7) - 2 dogs (Angel and Abby) - 3 cats (Tigger, Sparkle and Huey) - 2 crabs (nameless) - 1 snake (Samson).

I live near Nashville, TN and do not like country music. ;)

We used to be in the Army, but have been out for almost 3 years now. I work trying to keep my house in semi-order, homeschool, make and sell magnetic jewelry, and work at an awesome coffee shop on Saturdays (I LOVE a good cup of coffee!!). I spend a lot of time at church where I help in the kitchen and am on the choir/praise team. I love my church; I have a whole new and wonderful family!

I HOPE I can play Uru, but my specs are still not up to par....nor can I afford the game. lol

So, there you have it....lol. I'm glad to still be involved and in touch with other M/R/D fans, since I've stayed 'out of the loop' for a while. I'll be happy to help in any way I can, I do a little web page design, but my experience is pretty old. :o)

Katie

Hi there! I'm Katie Postma, Kha'tie in the communities. I'm 36, married to Rick for 8 years, and we have Amanda who is almost 7 and Ben who's almost 5. We live in London, Ontario, Canada (about mid-way between Detroit and Buffalo). I have been an avid Myst fan since I first saw the game in 1994, but Rick and I didn't get a computer until January 2000, when Myst and Riven were the first things I bought for it.

We finished Riven by February and I had met a few fans through CC where I went to get Riven hints. That's where I heard about the Lyst, and the rest is history.

Rick and I attended Mysterium '02 in Philly with the children, and '03 in Spokane without them. We had an amazing time and were able to deepen our friendships with fans we adore. I'm so blessed to have a husband (and kids, for that matter) who love Myst games as much as I do.

On Friday, August 19th I got a call from UbiSoft Montreal. They were looking for some Community Managers to help with the online marketing of Uru and would I be interested? I nearly fainted, then when I finally let it sink in I cried for about an hour. Rick came home and he cried, too. We went out for supper that night to discuss all the pros and cons. It was so tough! It was my dream job, working with the franchise, and also being the publisher's liaison to Cyan for the community issues. But, we live about 7 hours away from Montreal. Also, it's in Quebec where the children would be put into French school (government insists). We just bought a new house and were moving in mid-September. Things did not look too conducive to me starting a new job, let alone out of town...

... we prayed, and asked the advice and opinion of family and friends, fans and non-fans. Rick and I decided that if UbiSoft wanted me enough, and if it was God's will for our lives, that a) he could take a 4-month leave of absence from his job, so as not to lose the job or his seniority there, and b) that Ubi would agree to let me work part-time in Montreal, part-time from home for the first 4 months, then begin full time at home after that.

I was flown to Montreal for 2 days to interview (over 5 interviews, I lost count!) It was an exciting time, and I always wondered what the heek was I thinking? But everything kept falling into place! Rick was granted his leave. Ubi accepted my terms. Cyan had recommended me. And, I found accommodations that were not only affordable, but with an elderly Christian couple who are like parents to me! How could I pass this up?

We moved into this house about 1.5 weeks ago. I've been in Montreal or working here full time ever since then... and Rick has done the lion's share of all the work. I miss the kids a LOT, miss my friends, and most of all I miss the time I used to be able to just sit back and 'chat' with my fellow fans.

But I LOVE the job... I love that I can actually HELP Uru! I'm going to do everything in my power to make it work... for everyone!

Kristyn

Hi everyone! My name is Kristyn (aka "Kirsehn"), and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I'm 19 and am currently a sophomore at La Salle University. I am double majoring in Digital Media and Computer Science and minoring in English. I live in the dorms on campus during the school year, but with my parents when I'm not at school.

I enjoy reading, writing (although I don't do it very much anymore), website design, 3d modeling, role-playing (such as on Writers of D'ni MOO), and playing EverQuest. I also play the piano but not having one on I can use on campus has made it difficult to keep up with. My interests (besides MREDU) include nearly all things fantasy, especially Lord of the Rings, as well as anime.

After I graduate college, I would love to be able to work for Cyan or Ubisoft, but if that does not happen I would like to be somewhere in the game design/3d animation industry or the website design/administration industry.

I first found Myst sitting on a store shelf in what I believe was Best Buy. I don't remember how old I was, but I remember my parents thought it looked too hard for me to play =P Some years later, TGI Friday's was having an offer that if you bought 25 dollars in gift certificates they would give you a piece of free computer software. My parents took advantage of this offer, and one of the programs they gave us was MYST. It sat around for a long time, until a friend of mine was over at my house and saw it. She said she had played it for a bit at a friend's house and it was cool. I wasn't allowed to install software without my dad's permission so when he got home I asked him to let me put it on. I installed it, began to play, and overall I loved it (although there were a few times I got frustrated and put it down for a good while). I mentioned the game in school and someone recognized it because they had read the novels. He also said he heard there was a sequel to the game called Riven. After completing Myst, I did a search online for "Riven" and the very first result was RivenGuild. That was how I found the community and signed up for the Riven Lyst, which I joined in my sophomore year. The rest is history I guess. I played Riven, read the novels, played realMyst, Exile, and look forward very much to playing URU when it comes out. I also attended Mysterium in '02 (how could i miss it? ;))

Lee

I'm Lee, married for over 20 years to Steve, stepmom to a 30 y.o. son, and mom to four, ages 25, 23, 20, and almost 7. Grandma to 2.5 kids. I'm also mom to two dogs and a budgie. We live in Delaware (east coast USA).

I'm a gardener, martial artist, preacher's wife, avid reader (hey a soup can will do in a pinch!), and a writer. I love to cook from scratch, and eat mostly whole or real foods -- organic, if possible. Right now I'm almost drowning in revising the first book of a SF series, and I'm praying the agent who suggested the revision likes it and takes me as a client.

Linda

My name is Linda Ann (aka Li'ana) and I live in Norman, Oklahoma. I have an accounting business that I run from my home office. My youngest son has recently graduated from the Univerisity of Oklahoma and is now working and still at home. Since this is an all-women group I can confess that I will have a 'terminal' case of Empty Nest Syndrome when he leaves. I envy all you women on the list that still have children at home. Raising my children was the best (and most fun) thing that I ever did. Well, playing MRED games is right up there with the most fun things I have ever done too! I can't wait for URU and hope to have a new computer by the time it comes out. (I had better hurry up and shop since I have pre-ordered URU.) LOL

Lynda

I'm a graphic designer/art director (run a studio for a small advertising agency) in Sydney, Australia. (What other Sydney is there?) I'm 46 and the single mother of a 13 year old male (emphasis on the male - the testosterone genie is coming to town.)

I am an inveterate lurker (I think that means I lurk all the time). ;)

I love cooking, but the apartment I just moved into doesn't have a proper oven, but two convection microwaves. I am learning to cope! I also have an indoor bbq, a slow cooker, and a few recipes.

Michele

My nickname is MickyTeddy and many will know me on other Myst related forums by that name. I live in England, Single. Live alone. No kids. Age 49.

By profession, a registered general and sick children's nurse, a midwife and neonatal nurse, and a Health Visitor -- a British oddity who is trained to work in the community with families with preschool children, aiding parents with child-rearing and parenting problems and monitoring the health of the preschool child. I had to retire in 1998 due to my deteriorating health and it has continued to be poor since then and is slowly worsening over time.

I say I live alone but in fact my home is ruled by one immensely spoilt non-pedigree rescue cat named Callie.

I am disabled and may not post for days sometimes due to my poor health. I do not go out too much as I have mobility problems and it just plain hurts too much to walk far!!

I like plants but cannot garden now other than a patio pot or two. I love to read, and play all types of games including jigsaws. I make cards for friends and sell a few now. I used to love cross stitch but dexterity makes that difficult now.

And I have been a Myst fan since the first game came out. I use a Mac!!! I really began to learn more though after playing Riven and learned some of the language etc. However it was only whilst playing Myst 3 Exile, and having a problem in the game, that I found MystRealm in 2001. And I realized I was not the only Myst fan out there and that others too shared my thoughts and dreams about D'ni. I am in the Guild of Healers.

I would love to go to Mysterium but sheer distance and now health problems make that impossible!

Michelle

Hi, I am Michelle. I am 53 and have 3 grown children, 32 (boy), 30 (boy), and 28 (girl). I also have 2 grandchildren, 3 and almost 1 3/4, both girls by my oldest son. I worked full time with small children at home while going to college to get my first degree.

I was a CPA for 20 years before going back to school to get a Masters degree in Architecture. I now have my dream job of teaching Interior Design instead of doing taxes!

I fell in love with Myst when it first came out, but i admit that my son had to help me with the Stoneship sound puzzle since I could not distinguish between all the sounds.
